Porsche uses a vacuum system that causes the cooling system to be underpressured and that sucks the coolant into the system.. Then you top off the overflow canister.
Lastly you start the car up and let the motor warm to operating temperature. Serveral times the RPM should be quickly brought up to 6000 RPM and this fully evacuates any air in the cooling system.
The Heater controls must be set to Max Heat during the entire procedure.

Hi my Porsche Boxster S 2000, water pump was to be replaced OK the garage want's 475.00 to replace...WELL I did it myself GOOD... when I was finished, I took the car for a spin WELL it overheats pump,thermostat, all is well BUT it overheats IT HAS TO BE BLED question WHERE DO YOU DO THAT Very simple You know in the trunk where you add Coolant , there is a cover where it's written oil and coolant ...LIFT this cover and you will see an other cap well lift the wire straight up and there you go the system will bleed the air out...
Try and have the rear end higher than the front so the air will raise to the highest point.

Older Porsches were air cooled. Modern ones (including Boxters) are water cooled.

I thought a Porsche was aircooled - there is no rad.or coolant.
Maybe you got a newer one.
"drain it"? I have only bled brakes. Draining means taking off the lowest hose and the thermostat housing it is connected to that is bolted to the block. That will take out the thermostat and the fluid in the block. Now your engine is dry.
