There is very little chance that another attack will happen in the very near future. What the American people refuse to see is, this is a WAR. The fanatics would only be hurting their cause to pull off another attack on U.S. soil at this time. They are fanatics that doesn't make them idiots. They can see that they have changed the way that a good % of Americans view our policies and that the tide turned in their favor in NOV. 2006. If they where to pull off another attack on U.S. soil at this time their strategy over the last four years would be all for not. Libs have good intentions but there polices favor Islamic fanatics.

Are you serious? I'm not a 'libral hippie' (BTW its liberal) but you have got to be out of your mind.

Do you think that 5 1/2 years is a long time to people who measure success in terms of decades or even hundreds of years?

If you want to pat yourself on the back for being 'safe' for 5 years, then go ahead. Write back in another 50 or so and see what things are like then.

Are there still hippies around? Just wondering.
Don't know about them but I say Shiraz still can't use the spell check function. (Not that it works perfectly)

Do you mean successful terrorist attacks? The government has claimed several attacks have been foiled since 9/11 - thank goodness.

Since the borders--and ports--haveremained open, the lack of terrorist attacks can't be due to improved security--because terrorists could have walked right in at any time--and stil can.

And the lack of terror attacks can't be due to the terrorists lacking the ability to carry out attacks due to Bush's supposed efforts--the attacks in London and Madrid prove they have the ability.

So the logical cconclusion is that the terrorists aren't all that determined to attack US soil, by and large. Why? Because if they did, they could have. Bush's "war on terror" is a sham--a cover for greed and religious hatred. And given that he's spent the last 4 years giving people in the Muslim world plenty of reason to hate our guts, we may indeed have more terrorist attacks at some point. But if we do--it will be because of Bush's policies, not in spite of them.

Well, let's see, there was the DC sniper (who gave an address away in a phone call), and the Anthrax attack (still publicly unsolved -- who gets blamed for not solving that one?). I haven't heard about any attacks that have been thwarted since 9/11, and there wasn't any prior to 9/11, really.

3,000 US dead and 20,000 maimed in the Iraq invasion.

A war conducted against a nation that had NOTHING to do with 9/11, based on lies and misinformation.

Over 100,000 Iraq citizens dead, again, in a war conducted for no reason other than to drive up oil prices, and to keep Iraq from switching to the Euro for trading oil instead of the US Dollar.

Let's not forget the fact that Iraq has become the single biggest banner issue for terrorist organizations and has flooded their training camps with new recruits.

Yeah, I'd say Bush is a royal screw up, the consequences of whose blood lust and incompitence will be killing Americans for at least another century.

As a result we now have a war and other overseas dealings to propel the economic machinery and interests of certain influential people; there's no reason to allow-- uh I mean suffer another attack.

By the way, whatever happened to Bin Laden? Since we're not actively looking for him, couldn't he be causing more shenanigans over here? Why isn't he? They made him seem so relentless and he just...disappeared...

I sure don't credit a Bush Administration that has been incompetent every other way. Al Qaeda realized that as much as they got a charge from 9/11 it was not in their interests to arouse a sleeping bear as they did. So that's why they haven't repeated it. If they want to, though, they will, and it will be impossible to stop them in every case. So spare us your Bush hero-worshipping. He doesn't deserve it.
