Hi -- I'm new to the flat screen world and DVR. My TV has DVR built into it but it is not working all the time. Anytime I have set the DVR to record a major network program it has recorded fine, however, when I've set it to record any other channel it comes up wtih an error. I had it set to tape something yesterday and when I got home and turned on the TV (it should have already been taping) it just said 'scrambled' on my TV. I'm not sure if there is a setting I need to change or if I am doing something wrong? Any advice is greatly appreciated -- thanks!

I don't know anything about t.v's that have dvr built in, but I was having a similar problem and called directv and they walked me through the steps to re-set the dvr. I would call your provider, if you do have to re-set it basically erases the hard drive so you're going to lose any programs that you have saved but it should sove your problem. Good luck, I know it's frustrating when you're paying all that money for something and it doesn't work properly.

Can you watch those channels you can't record?
Many of the cable channels are scrambled and you can't watch them unless you have a CableCard.
However, even with a Cable card a provider may not let you record premium content, such as pay per view movies.
"Scrambled" means you are not allowed to record that channel.
