My girlfriend and I had unprotected sex last night. We agreed that I would pull out, and I did. But I did not pull out quick enough. And we are worried. We don't know if the day after pill will work or not.

It is about 80% effective in preventing pregnancy if taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. Of course this is also assuming that you had sex at or around her ovulation time.

The MAP works by making the uterus evacuate the lining so that IF an egg was fertilized, it will have nowhere to implant. It will not abort an already implanted fetus.

I would STRONGLY recommend that if there's even a tiny risk of possible pregnancy and you're not ready to be parents, then YES the MAP is worth it.

YES! Please please please get her to take the pill(s). They are about $40 at a drug store and they are called Plan B. There are also other kinds available. The person who purchases them from a store must be at least 18, but you can be male or female.

If you can't afford it, call planned parenthood and let them know what happened. They will get her in as soon as possible and will base the price of the pill on her income. I have received it for $7 when I made $7.50/hour.

Their phone number is 1-800-230-PLAN.

Please do it as soon as possible, they say you can take it within 120 hours, the first 72 hours are the most effective, but it's even better to take it RIGHT AWAY if you can get it.

It has worked for me twice in the past. One of the times I know I was at my most fertile and I didn't get pregnant. Good luck!
