thermalite blocks are used on the internal skin ....then you have a cavity filled with fibre glass matting 75 mm thick ....the outer skin of block work Isa solid block either a 3.5 newton or a 7 newton block ....newton is the crushing strength of the block ...these blocks are either concrete or a mixture usually with waste from power station ..these are suitable for rendering ..the thermalite blocks are made of a lightweight material ..and have insulation properties and are to be used on internal walls only thermalite blocks cost about £1 each and the others about 60 pence

hollow building blocks offer greater thermal insulation and are also lighter. 100 is 100 millimetre and 75 is 75 millimetre cavity. what exactly does he say, you sure he doesnt mean 75 millimetre cavity between inner and outer leaf???

This isn't an answer to the question, it's a commentary on the previous answer. Ponygirl, you're the one I'm bringing all my bit questions to! I have never heard such a detailed, sensible, considered explanation of a bit before, and you've brought new enlightenment to this old hoss gal's 'toolbox'. Thank you.

The hollow ones both weigh less and provide a better surface for adhesion.

ask you builders' merchant.

you'll incur the wrath of God if you don't follow the architect's specification.

i've never seen a hollow 100 or 75mm block. show me one!
