but the check engine light usually comes on and a flahing s light, my temperature gauge is fine so its not overheating but when i park it smells very warm.

Maybe the reason for the overheating is the catalytic converter in the car because you drive an 1991 model, and the converter´s life is not longer than six or seven years

Go by an Autozone I hear they will scan the computer for all diagnostic codes for free...if your check engine light is flashing there should be fault code. Or take it to a repair shop.

Those flashing lights are telling you something is wrong. Keep driving it and whatever is acting up will finally kill your car.

Likely inaccurate O2 sensor causes overheat to catalytic converter.
Have it scanned with a Honda scanner.

your accord must me a automatic isnt it? by the sounds of it u need whats called a tcm( transmisson control module) there very common... expensive yes but if u like your car then there worth it...i have replaced many of many of them ...the reason your car seems warm is its having to work hard to make that tranny do what it needs to
