Is it because they don't believe in God?

No it is because they believe in science. Whether they believe in God or not is seperate since religion (should) has nothing to do with science.

Because they don't really know the real facts and because they only listen to other people's opinion and that's it. The fact is that there is not enough evidence to support evolution, as a matter of fact evolution is just a theory, not the truth of the things. However most of the things ocurring in nature tends to say that actually evolution could be how things were originated, there are many clues pointing to that. It is a fact that mutations ocurr naturaly, nobody can deny it. Evolution is a model that perfectly works when you wanna explain things in science. However, once again, there is no solid evidence and maybe there will never be enough.

On the other hand, the same thing is happening with creationism, we don't have evidence that evolution is an aberration of people against God. Not at all, The Bible doesn't say anything about it because it is not a science book. God never thought of it as a way to give you that kinds of answers. However many fanatic people try or think they should explain the world with that. For example they thought that the Bible stated that the universe turned around the Earth. For crap's sake where did they get that? It wasn't that the Bible was wrong, the Bible never said anything like that. It was that they were obsessed with that and if you thought differently then you were wrong, you were anti-God. Thank God they cannot kill us now.

I think people should be opened to what we don't know for sure. I like to believe that God created everythin, cuase everything is so strikingly perfect and wonderful. But we don't know how God did it and we should take everything with a grain of salt.

Your question is not a simple one to answer. There are people who don't believe in God and that only subscribe to the evolution/science model and, at the other extreme, there are those who believe in an absolute strict interpretation of the bible and will not change their views no matter how overwhelmeing the scientific evidence is that counters the bible . And then there are various shades of belief in the middle.

I assume your question comtemplates the more radical form of creationism that states the earth is no more that 6,000 years old, the universe was created in seven, 24 hour days and that the Grand Canyon was carved out in matter of days as a result of the flood that concerned Noah. That said - a person who evalutes the scientific evidence can easily conclude that the the creationist claims have no basis in scientific fact. There is no credible evidence to support any of the claims of the creationist. (Of course, you can visit the Creation Museum in Cincinnati Ohio to see how badly science can be twisted and tortured) Why do some people elect to not believe the science? Difficult to answer - some are religous zealots, some can't understand sciene and it is scary and others just accept what they are told. In short, I think that people who believe in creationism are non-anaylytical or have very little scientific understanding. Or possibly where subjected to a very strong religious environment before becoming more analytical and science based. (However, it possible to believe in God without accepting the creationist view and to do so without intellectual contradiction)

As to the Theroy of Evolution. Some people do not want to believe it because the thought that humans are just evolved apes is repugnant to their sensabilities and would clearly contradict the bible which would seriously undermine the church and christianity. So the theory is attacked. Unfortunately, evolution is backed by hard science whereas creationism simply has a book that is unverifiable and everybody knows is true because it says that its true (self validation). Microevolution can be demonstrated in the lab with insects and bacteria over a short period of time. Things like drug resistance, color, size and shape can be influenced. In fact, such changes are observed routinely in our environment now. Plus, we have fossil record showing the change of hominids into more sophisticated hominids.

However, evolution does not anwer all questions. Evolution states that new life forms evolved gradually as natural selection slowly pressured the genetics of creatures in existance to create a new ability, form or entity. However, most life forms exploded into existance during the Cambria period (about 542 million years) ago in a very short period of time. These new organisms exhibitied fully functioning complex systems that were not evident a short time earlier. Sciene does not yet understand how this happened so rapidly. This is not to say that it will not be understood but we do not know now.

I have rambled on enough. Basicaly, it is more comfortable for a lot of folks to belief in creationism than evolution and science regardless of the mountains evidence to validate scientific approach.

No, it's because all of the research and evidence support Evolution.

Aside from that, despite the rantings of the Conservative Christians, Evolution does not conflict with Christianity.

Take a look at the two different Creation accounts in Genesis. The day upon which God created man changes, as well as the order in which various orders of live were created.

There are only two explanations for this contradiction. Either one or both of them are wrong, or God intended us to read the Creations story as a parable.

The there are the "Young Earth Creationists" who added up the names in the Bible. What they don't realize is that the Hebrew word for "Begat" used in those passages can also designate familial or tribal relationships. What's more, if the first chapters of Genesis are meant as a parable, then millions or billions of years can easily have passed before the time of Noah.

Personally, I find it sad that some people have such weak faith, that the prospect of Evolution being true is enough to terrify and anger them.

There have been surveys done that show that a majority of Evolutionary Biologists do, in fact, believe in God. However, most of the scientific community believes there there is a logical, scientific, explanation for everything. Significant evidence shows that evolution has occured throughout time. I personally think there will never be an end to the "Evolution vs. Creationism" debate. Too much time has passed since the beginning of life on earth to gather all of the necessary information. I'm on the side of evolution, but I am open to the possibility of a God.

No it's not always because they don't believe in God. I believe in God and evolution.

I believe in God, but not all the information they gave. And a nun in our school told us that Adam and Eve was just a story to tell the people how they deceived God.

I think it's because most people want to have a concrete answer to every problem in life and evolution just seems right. People don't like to believe there's this supreme being controlling all activities. It's human instinct. Evolution seems rational but creationism seems like myth.

I personally believe in God and i think that he created the heavens and earth but it could all be the Big Bang to humans. i believe God created evolution.

alot of people who believe in evolution still believe in god or a higher power. its just that evolution has proof and substance where alot of people believe creationism does not and it can be a little hard to believe at times

I think so. But I believe in God

You have to believe in both. If god created everything in 6 days you just have to assume a day = 100 million years, because before the earth was created (formed) what defined a day?
