I suggest you go to UP. It sounds like it's the right fit for your type. Plus, it's cheaper and you can always try to apply for a scholarship and pay next to nothing.
I've always regretted not going there.

UP does top the list for quality education, especially if you're going to get into a mathematics or engineering course and value your independence. However, it's pretty hard to get in. (Especially if you don't come from the Philippines, I imagine.)
So, I'll suggest also seriously considering ADMU which offers quality education as well. They have great faculty and as mentioned, facilities as well. However, teaching methods are still very traditional. But then, the same can pretty much be said for all the schools you mentioned anyway.
Personally, I think you're better off at UP or ADMU than DLSU. But it IS still one of the top 3 universities in the country for a reason, education- and facilities-wise.

If you are a foreigner, you should settle first your status here in the Philippines. UP is the state university, I dont know what their ruling is on foreigners. I think this would be the best school for you.
I am a Filipino American who studied in UST. Every school year, I go first to the Department of Education & Culture for a xerox copy of my ACR, Alien Certificate of Registration stamped by the Foreign Division. UST has the traditional teaching as you termed it. School like DLSU is also with the traditional teaching.

If you are an alien, as your name suggests, I don't think you'll be admitted in UP by your own accord. But if you're local like me, go to UP. You are treated as adult and responsible. That is why UP is a breeding ground for rebel leaders. And that's where my daughter went after high school taking up Chem Eng. In ADMU and DLSU, your physical presence in the classroom is a must and you said you hate it.

UP Diliman bar none, if you want a serious no-frills education based on quality professors and a truly top notch student body . The students there have been accepted completely based on their academic performance and ability, and not because of their parent's affiliations and the size of their bank accounts--which is mostly true in the other schools you mentioned.

Depends on what course you want to take. If you're interested in Engineering, go for DLSU. They have a very good engineering program there.

If you have the money.go to Ateneo(ADMU)..environment is better, safer, a little bit conservative..
If you are on a budget..go to UP..its not that safe though..lots of fraternity wars...a lot of rallies..a lot of student activists..a lot of outsiders and squatters,..most students are liberated.
For the quality of education..I can say that they are almost of the same quality..but ATENEO facilities are a lot better..
