Turkey bird was named first.

Turkish people say their lands name Turkier (in Osmanish)

They also started to write Turkish with Latin shrift more later.

Well, the area that is NOW called Turkey existed before there was a bird that is NOW named a turkey. However, I'm pretty sure that the bird was called something else in a different language at some point, and so was the country. However, turkeys as we know them are indigenous to North America for the most part, and therefore weren't really discovered by Europeans until they came here (although you could argue that American Indians knew of them first, but they didn't call them turkeys I'm sure.)

this all goes back to the chicken and the egg first which came first the turkey or the egg if it was the turkey then maybe the country but if it was the egg then wouldn't the country be called egg??????? probably no relation at all but would think that the land mass came before the living creature.....
