The first cetury involved the years 1-99 and therefore the second involved 100 to 199...

2000 - 2100 is the 21th century. If it was the 20th century then 100-200 would be the 1st century and 0 - 100 would be 0 century, but there is no such thing as a 0 century is there?
1 century = 100 years

The year 2000 completed 20 centuries; therefore, we have started the 21st.

Because when you count you start with one-- the first century was through the year 100AD so ... the second century is 101 AD-200AD and so on until you get to 2001 which begins the 21st century.

Because we are in the 21st centuary, for example, when a baby is born we say it's in it's first year, although it is not yet actually one, when it is one we say it's in it's 2nd year, do you get it now, although this is year 2006, we are in the 21st centuary.

The FIRST century was 1AD to 100AD ,SECOND 101AD to 200AD etc.
