It might be to do with Oxbridge, or the fact that some genius scientists have come from the UK; Sir Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Stephen Hawking, etc. Also, Simon Cowell, is a genius for making such trash into such a successful program. Business genius. Also, the British accent that Americans think of first are generally the 'Hugh Grant' accent, which does sound incredibly high class. I don't believe I'm part of the genius associated with Britain, but I can definitely see why the country can be seen as intelligent. A couple of poor TV shows can't be the cause for judging an entire nation's intelligence.

There is a show that comes on ABC Family called Whose Line Is It Anyway and that originated from a Britian TV Show. I also think Super Nanny and Nanny 911.

The Office is another show originating in the UK, along with What Not to Wear, Who's Line is it Anyway (Drew Carey). Those are the only ones I can think of so far. Can anyone else elaborate?
