I wouldn't. My daughter wanted to take us to this place that had refused to let her in before. She'd been wearing good clothes, but not a dress.
Instead, we insisted on going to this other place. Wait staff wore tuxes and formal wear, but didn't care what the customers wore. I thought this second place was classier, because they didn't look down on us common folk.

Dining Out

She was wearing a very pretty blouse, and a nice necklace. It was her wedding anniversary, and the members of the church they went to had paid for dinner for two.
Instead, they asked the church to get their money back, and they'd gone to a place that didn't have a dress code.

If I was a business owner I wouldn't refuse anyone, especially just because of their clothes. I wouldn't go back to that restaurant either. They didn't want my business the first time they wont have the chance again.

This brings to mind a true story of my college days. We were out clubbing and drinking and just having a good time and we went to a place that wouldn't let someone in our party in because he was wearing sandals. They said he had to have close toed shoes. So he went back to the car and put on his flippers from having gone diving earlier in the week. They threw us out again. We never went back, those people had no sense of humor. LOL

Tough question....I cannot believe that a place would make a girl/woman wear a 'dress' because there are so many wonderful formal clothes for women, not excluding pant suits, etc. (check out Hillary!)...if a 'dress' was the issue, I would NOT go back there, but if she was a little underdressed and not formal enough, they have their policies...and yes, then, I would go back when properly attired.

Well, I was on vacation once & went to a REALLY nice place while wearing a t-shirt & capris. It was on the beach so we figured casual was OK. We were so wrong. Hubby looked nice in his polo & khakis, but I looked like I wandered in by mistake. Just to give you an idea, our ticket was almost $150 & I had sweet tea but he had 2 alcoholic drinks (so our bill was NOT b/c of liquor).
I felt so out of place then that now I don't think that being refused entry would offend me.

because I purely have 2 pair, I often placed on them 3-4 days then wash and placed on the different pair 3-4 days. except something drastic takes position like falling interior the dirt or spilling something sticky on them. i'd quite like extra yet when I pay all my expenditures and whatnot there isn't in any respect sufficient left over! So , no i do not imagine that's atypical. You do what you are able to

I would not go back but for a different reason- embarrassment. You should dress appropriately for the place you are going to. I dont think its a matter of "looking down on common folk". I am a regular, middle class guy myself. But if I head someplace nice, I know what is expected and act/dress accordingly- which is called "Common sense"- something that "common folk" are supposed to have...

Some places do have a dress code, but these days jeans and sandals can look jsut as classy as a dress; it jsut depends on what she was wearing. I wouldn't hold it against the place if they do have a policy, but I also wouldn't want to go to a place with such a strict code.

I wouldn't with such snottiness. My husband and I went to a nice casual place (no dress code) before we went to the fair which was only a few blocks away. I'd been dying to try their food. Well if everyone's going to the fair, you don't wear fancy clothes. The service absolutely sucked and we were one of the two tables in the place! (*cough* Uva Trattoria *cough*) I swear it was because we were dressed for walking through a town fair.
I've written scathing reviews of that place on blogs, and I'll never go back.

Some restaurants just have dress codes. Yes I would, and I would dress accordingly; and JUDGE their service and their food accordingly as well.
