Yes you CAN my friend, I would recommend to back up all your data and maybe create a dual boot set up with media center and vista IF you want to keep media center and have enough free space.mmm so just create another 20 gig NTFS partition and install vista there.

Difference between Media Center PC and an ordinary PC running Windows XP is that Media Centre PC is running Windows XP Media Center edition which is more oriented on handling and displaying multimedia content on your TV (music photos movies) and thus have different (multimedia-oriented) interface. Windows XP on the other hand is targeting home and business users and its meant to be used as a multi-purpose OS ....

I am not sure what kind of media cente PC you are running but I do not think that is possible to upgrade it with Windows Vista ultimate edition. To my knowing, Windows XP Home can be upgraded to Windows Vista Home and Home Premium, and Windows XP Professional can be upgraded with Vista Business, Enterprise and Ultimate. I might be wrong about all this licensing issues so you better take a look at:

My media center takes about 5 times the time to boot up than the comp with straight out XP pro. Also, when the media center is recording off TV it monopolizes the hard drive. The media center wants to see all MP3s as Music. I collect old time radio shows that are MP3 based.....sometimes it turns into a real mess.

Media Centers are better cuz you can have a remote and watch TV. Anyway, go to the two URLs below and they will explain everything. Also subscribe to them for free and keep up with the computer world.

They will also tell you what you need to upgrade to Vista on your computer.

Mac's do not run very nearly a similar volume of courses as a residing house windows workstation and for what they do in hardship-free words a snob ought to personal one. also they say that MAC can not get an endemic... examine all the questions about MAC's not operating properly and convinced they do get virus. besides as hacked and each thing else that hardship-loose workstation's do they purely value better and are a lot less sensible. except for sure you run boot camp which maximum MAC people do. yet good day they have a mac lol
