Chillwak and Abbotsford are very nice, and cheaper than most areas, but not what I would call cheap. However, you would probably not want to have to commute from Vancouver to those areas, as previously stated, you would spend hours in your car, and during peak rush hour traffic, it can take hours to go 30 km.

If you anticipate working in downtown Vancouver, then I would consider Burnaby, or Vancouver just east of Burnaby around the areas of the PNE (between Boundary and Renfrew, or maybe Nanaimo ... no further west than Nanaimo until after Main .. high crime, homeless, drugs, etc). It.s not a bad commute from Burnaby/far east of Vancouver, esp by sky train/bus.

If you think you can both get jobs in the area where you live, then definitely consider places like Abbotsford, Langley, Mission, Pitt Meadows. You can get a 3 bedroom apt in Pitt Meadows for around $850-1,250. In North Vancouver, a 2 bedroom apt will be $950-1,200. In Burnaby a 2 bedroom apt will run around $650-1,000 and a 3 bedroom $900-$1,250. This is for your basic apt. and you may be able to find a good deal, esp. on a basement suite of a private home if you wanted to go that way. My husband and I rent a large 1 bdrm apt with yard for $500 a month near the PNE, about three blocks from Burnaby.

Hi there.
Commuting to and from Vancouver is a nightmare. Depending where you live, you will be hours in your car go and stop, go and stop. There are buss es, there is a train but most people take their cars and take it all in stride. You could live in Gibsons or Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast but that means a ferry up and down. The only thing good about the ferry is that you can sit back and relax. There are hundreds of people who commute from Sechelt to Vancouver. I did it for 10 years and I am still alive.
If you live in Burnaby, Port Moody, Langley, Richmond, Delta, White Rock or where ever you face long commutes. Check distances and prices on the web. Make sure you are informed as the entire Vancouver region is undergoing a boom and prices have sky rocketed 30 to 40 percent in one year.

Nice.... here is one This blonde decides one day that she is sick and tired of all these blonde jokes and how all blondes are perceived as stupid, so she decides to show her husband that blondes really are smart. While her husband is off at work, she decides that she is going to paint a couple of rooms in the house. The next day, right after her husband leaves for work, she gets down to the task at hand. Her husband arrives home at 5:30and smells the distinctive smell of paint. He walks into the living room and finds his wife lying on the floor in a pool of sweat. He notices that she is wearing a ski jacket and a fur coat at the same time. He goes over and asks her if she is OK. She replies yes. He asks what she is doing. She replies that she wanted to prove to him that not all blonde women are dumb and she wanted to do it by painting the house. He then asks her why she has a ski jacket over her fur coat. She replies that she was reading the directions on the paint can and they said.... "For best results, put on two coats"
