Algebra: Find the Value of the variable that is not given. Please Help!!?

I am having a hard time on this algebra problem it tells me to find the value of the variable that is not given and the problem is....

The formula for interest is
i =prt . If p=$3,500, t = 2 years and i =$595 , find r.


I m having a hard time with this.. Thanks alot for your help...

first write out what you have.... 595=3500(r)2 or 595=7000(r)so then all you need to do is divide both sides by 7000 to get r by itself... and you get 0.085. Or 8.5 percent interest.

595 = 3500(r)2
595/7000 = r
r =.085 or the interest rate is 8.5%
