As far as the official 'critics' go, I don't know what they judge a movie on. In most cases if the critics like it I hate it. I would love to have the job though, watch movies and tell what you think about it. Generally I would think that you should judge a movie mostly on it entertainment value. If it isn't entertaining, then for the most part, what is the point in watching it. Usually that is why you watch movies in the first place. And have you noticed that most of the movies up for academy awards are those that opened in the last couple months of the year. I don't think the critics even watch that many movies some times.

It's highly subjective. But I read somewhere that a myriad of subjective opinions eventually create an objective standard. I suppose a critic studies her/his own reactions to the movie and tries to pinpoint what went right or wrong and where. That is if they are an honest critic. A lot of them are on the studio payroll so they're pretty much "Travolta? Thumbs up! Cage? Five stars!"

First they start by putting their heads up their a**
Second they give it a review based on who is in the movie
Third they usually give the good movies fans like bad reviews and the ones the want us to waste money on good reviews.
Fourth they write a page about how they think the movie was-which has no relevance.

well, they would see if it followed its trailer, like if it said, outrageously funny, they'll see if this is true.
