Many coffee shops, hotels and libraries have free wireless access. Sometimes you need to purchase a cup of coffee to get an access code or something.

You can reserve a hotel first with WiFi connections. I read that airports have WiFi connections. Google the area where you are going. Like San Francisco is trying to set up a city WiFi area. I do not know when they will finish though.

And with a wireless laptop you should not have too much problems anyway. Except if you go to some dead spots where you can not recieve a signal. If you are not close to a Wifi spot, your speed will be a little slower and that is all.

Starbucks, many motels, many cafes in large cities have free "hot spots" where you can get wireless connections to work
