yep a belt, and I agree with you. Kids today have no discipline, they know if they act up, big deal they may not get a piece of candy. I got spanked early on and I never had to be grounded or even reprimanded. My homework was always done, never had to be asked about it. I maintained A+, held a pt. time job, participated in sports, and excelled at pretty much everything I have done that I have put my mind to. Kids today have no ambition or discipline. Parents actually think they are doing their kids a favor by being leinent.
I rarely have to spank my children, typically a "knock it off" cures the problem, because if they don't change the behavior they know worse things are coming.

I got whipped with anything they could get their hands on! Hands, belts, spatulas, clothes hangers, fly swatters (mainly for when I was in the back seat of the car an they couldn't reach me), and the worst was when they said "GO OUTSIDE AND PICK A SWITCH!"
I hated them for it then but, seeing how kids act now, I thank them for it today! It taught me some respect!
I agree, there are too many brats out there that need their butts whipped nowadays.

My mother used a switch-a small, thin, flexible limb from a peach tree. The worst part was having to go and get the switch from the tree myself then handing it to her. By the time I was 7 or 8, I had learned how to avoid getting my backside whipped. I learned to behave myself and do as I was told.
My grandmother, who lived with us, had a different method. When we mouthed off at her within her reach we got a tap on the top of the head with her heavy sewing thimble. She constantly had it on her finger as she was always sewing We learned not to mouth off within her reach at a very young age.

my parents never really got us. my mom tried to use the belt on the brother and smacked herself in the face with it. so there went that. I have a child and he is disciplined when needed. I have no fears about punishing a child as necessary. too bad some parents dont believe in boundaries and rules.

My mom would make me pick my own "switches" from a tree in our back yard.
My dad also used a belt a few times. But only a few, most of the time I would just give him the "puppy dog eyes" and say I was sorry so he wouldn't spank me.
Ha ha sucker

Hell yeah my Mom whipped me!
She used her hand, belt, shoe, ping-pong paddle, wooden spoon and the worst ever was when she used a plastic spatula with a metal handle on it! (I had been hitting my sis w/a tennis raquet so I deserved it-but it was at my B-Day party, and she did it in front of people-so I was mostly embarrassed!)
BUT-I agree with what she did and I think I'm a better person because of it!!

I got whacked with a slipper right on my bum. I guess I deserved it 'cause my friend was supposed to be staying over (her mom needed a sitter for the night) and I went over to the other girl's mom and said, I don't like your daughter, and I don't want her staying here. Boy did I regret that!

So I guess you're saying that whupping added up for you, right?
My brother received a generous portion of beatings growing up, I had his example to reflect on and didn't rebel as much.
It was classic conflict of wills watching my Dad try to beat the attitude out of my brother, my brother rebelling more because of the beatings... It was lilke watching Germany and France go at it.

More than a few times. The worst was with a large wooden spoon. It broke on my *** and she kept going blaming me for breaking her spoon.
