If I didn't have about 20 family members there AND very good virus protection, I wouldn't bother with it. A lot of these family members live in different cities, and most of us would be less likely to have contact if we were not all connected via our MySpace network.

It has been a good, fun, waste of time "pimping" my page, but not enough fun to make up for the frequent close calls with viruses, and the even more frequent phishing attempts, which I haven't fallen for, but half of the people on my friends list have.

And when it comes to being approached by people wanting to go out with me, there just seems to be more than the average number of creeps.
Almost as bad as the Yahoo chat rooms! ;-)

Many people see it as being a place where there are a lot of pedophiles, but I believe this is only because the number of pedophiles in any given place is directly proportional to the number of children in that place and there *are* a lot of children on MySpace. Just like any other place on line, we have to teach our children to stay safe and not give out any personal information.

My relationship with MySpace is definitely a love-hate kind of thing!

I love MySpace. First of all, It is a huge tool for excercizing your vanity, and my vanity has no bounds, hee hee. Also, It alows me to stay in touch with my sisters and cousins and all my friends who live in other states who I rarely see. I get little notes from people who I otherwise would onle see once a year. Then, most of my friends are artists and writers, so we post our work on our pages. I have gotten a lot of positive feed back on my stories and photos and been exposed to a lot of awesome art. If any one likes writing or photography check me out at http://www.myspace.com/animal_azar and my friend Suzi is a very talented artist, http://www.myspace.com/suzannesaunders
I think we show the positive uses for myspace.

I like it. Its a great way for me to keep in contact with all of my friends, cousins and old friends from high school. I hate talking on the phone and being able to comment or message someone is great.

I keep mine private and don't collect false friends. I only have 25 "friends" on myspace. Most are cousins from out of state, my sisters that live 2 hours away, my brothers, friends from high school and friends that I see all the time. I know everyone on my friends list personally.

Its stupid and unsafe when you have an open profile where everyone can see who you are and where you live, go to school, etc or if you add people that you don't know.

MySpace is creepy. I joined because many of my friends encouraged me to do so, and it was fun at first. But after a while it became irritating. I had strange men trying to hook up with me and add me as their "friend", every time I'd log on, some weird guy who I didn't know would send me mail asking me what I was up to...spooky! Then I would get people I barely knew who wanted me to add them on my "friend" list...not wanting to be rude or hurt feelings, I would add them, only to be assaulted by chain emails from them or an endless array of quizzes and crap I could care less about.

I finally erased my profile...or tried to. Here is the extra spooky part...you have to jump through hoops to "erase" your profile, but even when you do, MySpace will still keep your blank profile and continue to send you stuff...even when you tell them to stop.

That's my experience anyways. I like real life and real friends better.

I like MySpace and I hope to replicate some of it on My REAL Space at: http://www.swmseekssf.com which I'm in the process of creating 'cause I find the original MySpace just a bit too limiting.

Check out my site and let me know what you think. Again, that's:

I think it's good, except for all the kids giving out too much info. Someone will get hurt, if they haven't already. Makes me sad.

To answer honestly:

Myspace is nice and everything. It allows you keep in touch with friends and the like, but it's not the greatest thing out there. I prefer Bebo. It's harder to find friends, but if more people used it then you really wouldn't have to.

I think it's great. I've kept in contact/gotten in contact with a lot of people I might have lost track of otherwise. Plus it's fun to customize your page & see everyone else's.
