When someone says just call me (insert your boyfriends last name) this semester. does that mean they are engaged? just wondering.

Engaged means committed to a monogomous life-long relationship, typically "engaged to be married".

Your question does not necessarily have anything to do with committment. You need some more specific information.

Heck no! What planet are you from? Interpreations of engaged range from "engaged in conversation" to "engaged to be married" and somehow I think you mean marriage and NO WAY!

No not it all... It may mean he is just that he may be thinking of marriage. You are not officially engaged until he pops the question and you accept his proposal.

Maybe they're kidding? I don't see any reason on earth why anyone would say that unless they were married and changing the name because of that.
