I would say QANTAS or Air New Zealand though you would have to go via Auckland. Do not flight United because it isn't that good on that route.
On another note it is spelt QANTAS with no U. It is actually made up from Queensland and Northern Territory Air Service so yeah no need for the U.

Any.
If you're like most of us, you're looking for the cheapest flight to down under. Right now Air Canada seems to have the best rate out of LAX and United Airlines has frequent seat sales on as well- keep checking them. Flight charges for economy can range from $1100 to $6000 (there's no rhyme or reason to airline fees).
As for in-flight service, all the major airlines are comparable (it's a 12 hour flight so there's lots of movies and food service no matter who you fly with) so price is really the only question.

Fly down and buy stuff there. Shop on the net for air fairs. You may be able to get some good deals if you are willing to go on short notice and have a lay over.

I liked Qantas alot! they gave me a pair of socks, a toothbrush and other goodies for my comfort. My sister flew a U.S. carrier,, United (?) and said it was cramped and uncomfortable.
