i usually like your answers everything regarding the riviera maya....but in this case....i wonder if you ever have been in either one!?!?

the aventura palace is a very nice adults only resort...no doubt...but there is no nice beach.matter in fact there is NO BEACH WHAT SO EVER with access to the ocean.they have a little kind of a lagoon which is nothing more than a big natural swimming pool with an artificial beach.the rest is rocks only.(see this picture....that's the entire "beach".)

nice beach at the moon palace? the number one complaint at the moon palace is the beach.(friend of mine works there in management).lots and lots of seaweed.

like said both hotels are very nice but if you look for a nice beach neither one is a good choice.they are both 5* hotels.the moon is more designed in a mexican-hacienda style.the aventura is more fancy with marbol floors.
the moon palace is about 15-20 min outside cancun and all his entertainment.
the aventura palace is about 15-20 min outside playa del carmen and it's famous 5th avenue.
in other words:you need to decide if when you want to "go out" if that will be in cancun or in playa del carmen.

there are so many equally nice hotels in the entire area in way better locations and with much nicer beach and a lot more inexpensive....i would not pick any of the two mentioned above.but that's my personal opinion.

pardon my spelling....i'm german

greetings from playa del carmen,

We stayed at Moon Palace in 2004 (pre Wilma) We really liked everything about Moon except the beach. The beach it's self is nice but the water has a lot of seaweed. The employees are always cleaning. Very hard working. We enjoyed all the restaurants and the service was excellent. Bring lots of dollars for tips. They deserve extra. The entertainment was just okay. The pool is wonderful. very big. You will meet tons of people, all different age groups. Singles, families, young couples, older couples. Adventura Palace is adults only. Never been there. When were you planning on going? Sun Palace is also a adults only and has just reopened.I think Cancun Palace will reopen in April. LeBlanc is another Palace resort and gets great reviews on Trip Advisor.
Good Luck. There are many hotels to choose from.

We were at the Moon Palace in 2002 and yes, there was seaweed in the water and some on the beach. However, at this resort, the pool area is so large that most people hung out there.
We enjoyed it. If you want clear beach and water hop on the free shuttle bus for a 20 minute ride to Cancun Palace or Beach Palace. I don't know why there is no seaweed there but it is a fact. Anyway, you will enjoy the Moon Palace, the place is huge and there is always something going on.

I prefer Adventura Palace, but both are good resorts. Make sure you stroll down 5th avenue at night........beautiful place ......good shopping....and fun clubs. If you like salsa dancing and good music.....Mambo Cafe in Playa del Carmen is magnificient. The beach at both hotels is great. You can't go wrong at either place.
