that almost every American soldier fighting this war, feels that the liberals and far-left democrats are not only destroying their great country, America, but making their fight to free innocent people and help to establish a safe and normal lifestyle for them, close to impossible and a moot point??

It is absolutely devastating to see my 29 year old brother so emotional towards secular progressives and radical left-wingists in our government and in Hollywood. You should ALL be ashamed! And personally, Im ashamed that this country has provided these "anti-America" groups with the ability to spread their disease!

You're right, but it seems to me that most people on here think they know more than our returning vets. Interesting, isn't it? They don't want to hear what these soldiers who have been there and seen first hand have to say. Closed minded isn't it?

I am anti-war but that does not mean that i am ant-soldier. Despite how i feel about the reasons for the war, i do support the soldiers. The soldiers didn't make the decision to go to the war, most of them enlisted in the service to get a college education paid for. It is said that soldiers are dying the the cause in Iraq because the war is not a justified war, and at this moment it feels like it is in vain. George W. Bush is destroying America by lying to the country about the reasons for the war, and now young men and women are dying for that.

It is truly a shame that you brother and you feel this way. As with the Vietnam War the criticism is at government policy and the question of whether the War was needed. History tell us that the War in Vietnam was a mistake and should not have happened. The War in Iraq is cut from similar cloth.

I don't think that there is any lack of support for the brave fighting men of the United States who are spending their lives for the country. There are wounds that only time will heal.

I don't believe it for a second. How can one guy speak for "almost every soldier".

Look, they should be upset with their leadership all the way up to CINC. The leaders of this war have made terrible strategic and tactical blunders which have compromised the mission and chances for success. I can to point to quite a few mistakes that have been made in planning, execution, management etc. These are not the mistakes of the left. They are the mistakes of the right-wing republicans that have run the war.

You people are all about personal responsibility when it suits your purposes. I don't see any of you asking Bush, SECDEF, Bremer, military leaders etc. to be accountable. No, they screw up and are awarded the Medal of Freedom.

Just an example of major mistakes:
- 9BB +/- in CASH lost
- Billions not used to rebuild iraq- becuase of (next item)
- Country was not secured after the initial occupation and still not secured.
- Disbanded the army, police and gov leading to chaos we have now
- Going there in the first place, based on faulty intelligence.
- Infrastructure is worse now than before the war - electricity, water, etc.
- Oil production is less now than before the war.
- Tons of no-bid contracts leading to overcharging, fruad and inefficient ops paid for by US, the US Taxpayer.

These are all indisputable facts and results of poor leadership and mismanagement -- not the opinion of the left who have not had power to do anything about the war. The leadership has failed our military personnel once again-- just like in Vietnam.

If the opinion of any anti-war people can cause us to lose, God help us as we are worse off than I had thought.

Did you know that your brothers opinion and limited experience doesn't amount to the opinions of "almost every solider"?
Did you know that this country was founded on the basis of being able to question your government and question your leaders.
Did you know most Americans disagree with the war? I'm not sure if you're aware of this, BUT THIS IS OUR COUNTRY.

Did you know that democrats are not doing anything to impede the troops jobs in Iraq. That was done by poor planning and poor execution. It was a moot point before they began.

Your brother sounds like a brain washed right wing military nut. And you and HIM should be ashamed of wanting to take away Americans right to protest.

This is AMERICA. Not Nazi Germany.

The war was a stupid mistake made on the word of a moronic president. The deaths are on his hands. I was never for this war. We do not fight this kind of war well. America will not support ongoing wars. My war was Vietnam and we all proved to everyone that this kind of war is always going to be a disaster. Short, "Shock and Thunder" wars work for us, not long protracted wars of attrition.
I spent 20 years in the Army and National Guard and have been on that side of the issue.
Still, this is not a war we are going to be able to "win" unless we use tactics that the US and the world would not support.
I feel for your brother and all of our brothers and sisters in the military, but it is not the fault of those who see the problem and speak about it. It is the fault of those who made the decisions to get us into this stupid, costly, disasterous war.

In my opinion YOU are anti-American. How is it good policy to invade a nation with no connection to 911, thereby diverting our necessary troops from the real mission to one of personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein? Most of the 911 terrorists came from Saudia Arabia, yet Bush couldn't praise them more-why aren't we occupying their country?

And..it is the duty of every American to speak out against the government when what it is doing is wrong! That is the heart of this society.

Furthermore...our President has never even articluated what would consitiute a win. What would be a win in Iraq? They become our puppets in the Middle East, and we can use them when we decide to invade Iran?

then stop whining like a girl and save that bogus sob story for someone who cares. How dare you pretend to know what the soldiers are thinking you aren't there. The most your brother can tell you is what his particular unit was thinking if they are thinking at all about anything except how to stay alive today and how much they miss home. I am a veteran and I know that is never on a soldiers mind while he is in the field he is to busy not getting his can shot off.

Yes! Let's all get with the program and march in line - heil Bush - do what you will with our money and our precious soldiers! Is that what they're fighting for?

We love our soldiers more than ANYTHING, they ARE our country and we have access to so much more information than they have been allowed to see - you need to open your mind a little bit and get some perspective.

FYI, my entire family is military.

With all respect to your brother, he is not representative of every American soldier. There are many of them who have returned from Iraq opposed to the war. Some of them have run/will run for office in their states.

I'm glad your brother is back safe. I hope he will find a way to reconcile his experience in Iraq with his life here at home, and that he will one day understand that those who oppose the war are not being unsupportive of him.
