I mean, these guys are the dogs danglies amongst pilots - Do you think they are a waste of money? Or are they worth every penny for the simple fact that they provide entertainment for all ages, across the globe.

the Red Arrows are fantastic to watch, Ive seen them many times. About 4 years ago they gave a display at Llanududno in wales. The ariel display was over the sea.
On the prom was a jet plane with long queue for the public to actually climb into the cockpit.
There were lots of tents connected to the RAF, including one about recruitment. A few young people were milling around the tents.
After the display by the Red Arrows, there must have been at least a 100 young men and boys joining the queue for information about the RAF
The amount of money that they cost is a drop in the ocean when you think about the money this goverment wastes.
I agree , they are worth every penny.
If the Red Arrows are axed, the money will just be in the Govenments black hole, never to be invested in anything worthwhile that entertains so many people.
My grandson was 3 years of age on that day in Llandudno, and he can still describe and draw pictures of what he saw that day
Shame on them.

The Red Arrows are a great attraction and a splendid advertisment for the RAF.

I'm not the least bit surprised that this idiotic government wants to axe them - the only thing Tony Blair and his bunch of mindless morons place any value on is their own personal wealth and a few dodgy peerages.

It is part of the machinery of Government to consider such things. Voters object to paying more tax, so something has to give, and for the MOD it is the frills - ceremonial, presentational, etc.

But considering the option to axe the Red Arrows doesn't mean it will happen. Trouble is, with our confrontational style of democracy, everything is seen as black and white.

I bet the Govt does axe the Red Arrows because it hates the Armed Services and it hates tradition. Unfortunately, the Red Arrows are both.

Why not? They axed 111 Squadron (Treble One Squadron) known as 'The Black Arrows.' who also used to do air shows using Lightning jets.

I'm not sure how you can measure cost effectiveness for something like this but I reckon they do more for RAF recruitment than anything else. I say keep them.

it's all about money, but I don't think that you can put a price on something that gives us such national pride.
