I'd probably say 14.5 for the position, 12 relative to others. And I disagree with whoever said Mathews played on some weak teams. While some of his teams weren't the best, there was a tremendous four year stretch of teams in Milwaukee from 1956-59. The Braves just missed the playoffs in 56 and 59, won it all in 57, and blew a 3-1 World Series lead in 58. Two other very noteworthy sluggers surrounded Mathews in the Braves' batting order at that time - Hammerin' Hank Aaron and Joe Adcock.

My Dad grew up with those Braves teams and it was a really classic group of guys; a hard-drinkin', fun loving bunch.

Eddie Matthews was one of the all time greats to play the game. He was a teammate of Hank Aaron in Milwaukee and Atlanta. He hit over 500 home runs, so on a scale from 1-15, I'd give him a 13.

Over 500 Hrs, solid defender, played on some weak teams, but I'm still probably give him a 12-13. Who goes off of a 15 point scale? What happened to 1-10? Just kiddin.

I would rank him as a 12. He is in the top 5 greatest 3rd basemen of all-time.

I guess he'd be around a 12/13, because he was one of the greatest 3B of all time. He was no Schmidt, but was better than or comparable to anyone else that ever played third.

Largely due to a career in Milwaukee and Atlanta he is possibly the must underrated Hall-of-Famer. He's not the best ever, but should be a 12.5

I would say a solid 13. His number are great but not the very best.
