Whatever happened to the days where, if you posed for a picture you were suppose to smile, now the meaner you look in your pic the better(especially with rap and rock stars), when people smiled as they walked by one another, now I am afraid to even look at some people, people complimented each other not insulted one another on a regular basis (that's why we have no more Yahoo board), shows on TV were centered around family life not family disfunction . There was good and bad news during the nightly broadcast now nothing but bad news (everything in the world is not bad). People just arent nice anymore...why??

What is everyone elses take on this?

I personally dont care what rap and rock stars do but I think people realized over time how "FAKE" it is to smile all the time. I find it to be very "Plastic" sort of speaking. I smile all day at work like you mentioned. We smile to be polite , we smile for this and smile for that. After I leave work I only smile when it's necessary. Maybe it's my new york upbringing or something. When I was at a job in ny a pakistani guy who was a programmer never smiled at all and when i questioned him he said "Smiling in my country is used as a defense like youre hiding something..we find it to be deceptive". I kind of aggree with that but he NEVER smiled and i find that boring.

I myself find a lot of photos with smiles to be very fake looking. Sometimes people look very good when they're natural and not forcing a smile.
Same thing with compliments. Not everyone mean what they say and some can be falsely complimenting while thinking very bad things about you.

I aggree with you about the bad news on tv..its just too much...seems like negative sensationalism has become the popular norm these days. I watch the news for like 10 minutes and then turn it off because it gets too depressing especially all those soldiers and civilians getting killed these days.

I wished i could hear what you have to say after reading my answer about the "smiling" fake comment i just made.
thanks!

Violence on tv, lack of good upbringing by parents, a glorification of sin.........(look at Ms. USA - no one even noticed her until she got in trouble)

It's a shame.........but I still smile when I pass by people - smiles are contageous and if I can evoke just one smile from a sourpuss passing by, then I feel like I did a good deed that day!!!
Let's lead by example!

you see all these bad people and hear all these bad things because we ve grown up to much in number and we are somewhere lossing trust on each other that is why we put up our shields of badness but not tru there are giant numbers of good people .you need to put down your shield and trust again and then you will be able to tell the good from the bad ones alot easier your good judgement will lead you to the good people and to that very special one .dont give up they are every where
