You'll get answers like, it is barely up from 2000 levels or the stock market only pertains to the rich.....They will NEVER give Bush credit for anything...NEVER...just watch.

Only a third world mindset can attribute the state of the economy to a president.

Just imagine that the U.S. is a company and Bush is the CEO, The company has a credit limit on an account to borrow up to 8 million, the CEO takes the reins of the company with roughly 4 million in debt (which had been payed down from 6 million from the previous CEO) and he doubles it to 8 million and had to call the bank to ask them to raise the credit limit because on top of ordinary wages and expenses he needs to finance a project that is becoming increasingly unpopular with all the employees in the company. On the other hand, the rest of the world surrounding the company is moving along and prospering in a free market. Basically the same type of market that the previous CEO had.

To answer this question, you can also try to make a list of the policies enacted by this president and try to analyse the direct impact or stimulus on the economy of each one of them.

But to tell you the truth, bush ain't that great. -Giving him credit for the stock market numbers would be like giving Bill Clinton the credit for the roaring economy we had in the 90's.

I think people, almost everyone, is frustrated with the middle east mess, but not everyone blindly blames it on Bush...last time I checked he did not fly the planes that blew up our bluildings and was supported in the initial efforts of the war...
so they blame bush for everthing, gas could be 2 cents a gallon, we could all be living perfect lives and they would come up with something new to blame him for...my favorite is that he is stupid, I wonder how many who say that have ever graduated form yale and become the leader of the free world...good luck, they are gonna spank you, thus proving your point...

Well, to be honest ( I do not want to offend your political beliefs), but do not forget that behind the entire Bush family is a strong business lobby, which plays in the Dow Jones system. And besides according BBC and Wall street journals, the consumption rate in the US is rising, so personal well-being has little to do with the critics for the foreign politic, which is the main point in the Bush denouncing campaign.

As long as the Chinese continue to buy US Treasuries with the trade dollars the wild deficit does not matter. Just don't piss off the Chinese. If they shoot down a US plane and keep the crew hostage, just pretend everything is OK. It is just something most favored trading partners do.

The Dow doesn't tell the whole story. It doesn't explain, for example, why home foreclosures have gone through the roof (no pun intended).

The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. Excuse my English.

It's the war on the Poor and Middle Class.

Why didn't you mention the surplus he inherited and the deficet he's created?

Let alone how he has bankrupted our moral high ground standing all around the world
