I have done engine swaps before, and just the conversion hardware can run you $3,000 with all the bells and whistles. Then add the engine and tranny!

Best thing would be to modify the existing engine. Cold air intake $100, high flow exhaust system (please, no fart cans!!) with magnaflow cats and stainless muffler $400, adjustable fuel pressure regulator $165, a chip for the CPU $100, headers $135, and larger injectors $120. That should put you near 175 hp.

Stage II would be to pull the cylinder head, have it milled slightly and larger valves put in, plus ported intakes and exhaust ports.
That should bring you to 225 hp.

Then add a 75 shot of nitrous if its still not fast enough. Just be sure to get the computer controlled version that keeps your engine safe during the NOS injection phase.

You probably wont find a supercharger kit for the camry 2.2, but go for it if they do. Although it may be too much $$$.

Look on ebay, everything you need should be there.

Good luck.

There is no such thing as "an average engine swap" on a toyota camry. There is a reason why you dont see a great deal of fast camrys, because there is no performance engine, at least not until they released the new camry. your best bet will be to hunt around to see if TRD offers anything along the lines of a supercharger that will work with the factory engine.
