Download a neat lilttle software called Chameleon Clock. It does more than display the day of the week. You can set reminders and other neat little stuff.

The Windows clock can only display the time on the taskbar. There is no way to include the day of the week. However, if you just hang your mouse pointer over the clock, a small yellow bar will pop up and tell you the day of the week and the date.

The taskbar will only show the time when it is one row tall. However, if you enlarge the task bar (drag it up one row) it will then show the time, day of week, and the date.
