When the Dem's were in the minority, the the ability of the minority party to prevent votes from coming to the floor was a sacred right essential to the stability of our Democracy. Now that they are in the majority, the such efforts on the part of the Republican's are deemed obstructionist.

Ms Under...I didn't say anything about the Republicans. I was confident that other's would adequately make that point. I just recall the self-righteous protestations of the prominent Democrat's that there efforts were not obstructionist...and was struck by the change in tune when the shoe is on the other foot. How long do you think it will be before the Dem's threaten to change the rules?

Good observation! Democrats always seem to forget what ever they did in the past!

Whatever...Republicans were complaining left and right when the Dems used fillibustering to block legislation. The American people voted Dems into office because they wanted a change of course in Iraq. if Republicans choose to block the discussion of other ideas on the war, the people will speak again in '08.

I'd take you a lot more seriously if you knew how to spell or use grammar...
When the republicans were in the majority, they constantly claimed the democratic minority was being obstructionist by exercising their sacred right to prevent votes from coming to the floor. Now they claim it's a perfectly legitimate and useful procedure. It works both ways, pal -- welcome to politics :)

They aren't really making a big deal out of it. And you also don't hear about plans to try and stop the republican's right to do so. The republicans did try to legally stop the democrats right to do so.

The Republican party EMBRACED IT? Seriously, bro, what book are you reading from? Best guesses it's the one with the anorexic on the cover. Do you really believe the crap she's conveying to you?

You need to read more. It was Republicans who tried to take away the fillerbuster from the Democratic minority. Check your facts.

really? republicans embraced it when the dems did it? huh...I distinctly remember the threat of arrest, the dems leaving and hiding out, the very term 'obstructionist' being used...etc. but OK, revisionist history is a favorite of the reps.
EDIT: Read your question again...you very much do mention the reps.

Duhhhh. . .
It is called "spinning", which means making your side of the argument the right side. ALL politicians do it, and it is the reason there are so many sheep in this country. . .
