When it's able to raise the standard of living of the 75% or so of its people that are currently living in abject poverty. It's working on it, and is well on the way, but that'll be a while still.

The US, on the other hand, is headed the other direction -- the percentage of the population living below the poverty line has increased every year except one under Bush, while the rich get richer.

Who's making progress, India or the US? :)

when every indian stops asking this question and starts working towards making this dream a reality, we will have made our first step towards the goal. if we continue it with the same fervour, we will rise froma eveloping country to a developed country

India must solve its social justice problems first. Otherwise this will hold them back.
