Nowdays all should work (+ or -) DVD, but to be safe check ur manual, if it says + & - DVD R or RW, then u basically have all of them covered. Most name brand DVD you buy anywhere basically will work.

DVD R (+ or -) is write once (only can write to it one time)
DVD RW (+ or -) you can Write and Erase multiple times (not indefinte but alot)


Try one brand, if it works well for you stick with it...

DVD +R usually for Movies audio etc
DVD -R for Data (these are recomendations but certainly not the norm)

i personally use +R for everything

If it's a DVD-RW drive, it should play:

Regular DVD's
Any kind of CD
DVD-R
DVD-RW

These I definitely know that it should play. Other than that, I'm not sure.

you should be able to play any type of dvd
