No, I don't think so, sounds like a weird legend.....

Although all said i have never seen a startled badger.

Badgers are not famed for their grasshopper like leaping abilities, are they? and if one could jump so high when scared, surely it would jump pretty high on other occasions, such as to catch birds from the sky and leaping over hedges - something they just don't do.

no, I believe it's only when startled, not agitated.
