I think that what makes a person "pretty" varies according to societal views. Nowadays in America, it is considered pretty to be very thin. I would guess most people think that women who wear larger than a 10 or 12 size are not pretty according to American beauty standards. However while I traveled in Europe I saw women much larger than that who were being pursued at bars and were wearing short skirts and looking confident in a way that you rarely see larger women looking in the U.S.
As far as what makes a face pretty, those standards seem to stay the same around the world. Proportional features seem to be the most important feature. It seems to me that in America, a pretty face consists of large eyes, a small nose and full and pouty lips.

The theory is that a person that is considered pretty or attractive has facial features that are symmetrical. This means that if you were to draw a line down the center of someones face their features will be the same on both sides of the line. This is obviously a subconscious effect. We don't go around imagining people with lines down their faces.

being "pretty" all depends genreally on one thing
the bone structure plays a huge rold in someone appearing to be beautiful or handsome
bauty is all about whther or not the face is reflexive apon itself
if everything is even and symmetrical
the more symmetric a face is
the more visually appealing it is to another person
there are always variances like the size of the nose or the skin tone etc etc
but if were just talking "pretty"
the more symmetricla a face is
the more pretty it is

It's not that it makes it prettier than someone else's, the two that you mentioned are different because of their different nationalities, with bone structure, hair, skin color. I think that some of the most beautiful women in the world are African American and Indian women because of their deep rooted bone structure and the color of their skin. Healthy skin and teeth also help make someone beautiful. Good luck I hope this helped.

Studies have shown that facial symmetry lends to the perception of attractive. A person with a more symmetrical face (eyes even, nose centered and straight, even and centered mouth and teeth, etc.) is perceived as more attractive.

look up 'symetry in beautiful people' or something simialr on google search or whatever - you should get lots of good info for you paper - good luck!
ps-my personal opinion - attitude and exposure to lots of compliments - look at the girl that played maryjane in spiderman - just average really (even a little homely in the wedding dress scene) but "everyone" says she's pretty so "everyone" believes it to be true!
