I have to go to work still, and clean my house, etc. It's been 2 1/2 weeks and I've been doing RICE as much as possible but its still swelled on top and hurts a bit.

You need to take some time off work for it to heal better if you didn't take time off when it initially happend. Also you should ask your doc for a brace for it if he didn't give you one when it first happened. Use an anti-inflammatory med like ibuprofen, aspirin or naproxen to help relieve the pain but use a prescription amount when you are on your feet for a long time. If you don't have a leg brace from the doc consider this. My daughter still uses her special brace anytime her ankle starts to bother her a little.

You use crutches whenever you need to walk. Otherwise, the more you keep the leg hanging, the more the blood will flow and cause swelling. You need to rest it as much as possible. Sometimes, sacrifices must be made. Clean the house when it's healed. If you have children and husband, they should do the chores.

On your days off stay off of it, get a crutch and hop around if you have to.
