Of course!! We are very nice, warm and welcoming people. Just treat others as you would like to be treated. We are a big mix of chinese, caribbean, spanish, european, etc inmigrants that came to build the Canal and stayed for generations.

An universal rule: there are good people and there are bad people everywhere.

Have fun and don't miss our beaches!!!

Panama is a safe country to every visitor. As most people have said you must always practice common sense and avoid certain places.

Most of my clients are from the US, and almost all of them are very pleased with the way Panamanians treat them. Of course, as most have already said, you must be cordial and treat everybody the way you would like to be treated.

Sure there may be some cultural issues that take some time getting used to, but I think that's a price everybody that relocates has to pay. Certainly it happened to me when I lived in the US.

If you plan to visit Panama as a tourist it's better if you contact a local tour company or a travel agent to arrange city tours, beach tours or getaways, etc.

Good Luck!

I think it depends mostly on the attitude you carry and not so much your color or origin. In Panama like in any other latin american country, unless an individual has a deep rooted byass against gringos, in general the people are usually reciprocal with their respect towards visitors. Remember, they catch on very quickly to the condescending or patronizing gringo. - Panama is pretty safe , just use common sense and caution when moving around and get advise from trusted locals when you arrive.

Fushia tells the truth listen to her. There are good and bad people everywhere.

We are US citizens living in Panama for over a year now. IMHO it is safer than the US. Of course as with EVERY country in the world there are neighborhoods I don't go to. There are nighborhoods I will go to with jeans, t shirt, no purse (money and stuff in pockets) no jewelry. And then there are other places I don't worry about any of it.
