There may not be anything that can change people's minds. I suspect many of them listen to way too much talk radio, FAUX news, and the like.

If someone akin to Al Gore on the conservative side of the spectrum came out with a plain-language explanation of what's going on, people might begin to change their minds and look beyond the freezing temperatures on the dial today.

I doubt it will happen, though. But good question.

EDIT: as for that petition of so-called scientist mentioned in the answer below... Here's the form that they allowed for signing the petition:

No mechanism for checking credentials whatsoever. 15,000 "scientists". I guess any old fool could have (and probably did) sign that petition.

What should we do to people who think who believe in the myth of man-made global warming? We're at the end of an ice age, people. More than 15,000 (fifteen THOUSAND) actual scientists have signed a petition disproving man's involvement with global warming. Get a clue. People are not that significant in global climate. And don't forget, the sun has actually been getting hotter over the last 100 or so years. Why is it the global warming alarmists seem to leave out facts like that?

And since we're asking questions, why not ask why that idiot Al Gore is trying to scare everybody about man-made global warming while flying around in his private jet? Traveling from LA to Washington D.C. usees the same amount of fossil fuels as driving a Hummer for a year. And that's not round trip.

Hypocritical nonsense.

Remind them how the scientific method works. If they don't care about "science" or "evidence" or "reproducability" or "theories", then don't bother with them.

Bigger question: what to do with all the oil company executives, their lawyers, and the members of government that they have in their pocket when they wind up destroying the earth for a few pieces of silver?

Gently explain to them they should read entire articles in scientific journals not just the title before they begin spouting talking points. Short, drastic, winters have been written of as part and parcel of Global Warming for decades.

Watch an Inconvenient Truth, especially all those here who deride Al Gore (may he win the Nobel Peace Prize), and do a little thinking before believing that "15,000" "scientists" signed a petition saying global warming was false (NOT TRUE, HELLO) where did you get that "Awake" magazine? (must be the same "scientists".

Funny but its far more than "a few days. "

Try the Little Ice Age from 1500-1800 for starters.

And also try the Medieval Warming period during which temperatures were worse than they are now. Did they have factories and SUV's in the year 1200?

Make them take every science class over again, from celery spears in colored water in the fourth grade all the way up to advanced chemistry. After they actually know a thing or two about science, then they may be allowed to talk about it again.

First off, its a THEORY, not a LAW. Theories are meant to be subject to anti-thesis.

Here's the deal. No matter what happens, the scientists say, see...that just proves climate change. If it gets too hot, they blame it on greenhouse gases. If it get colder than usual like now, they also blame it on the same thing. How can you believe them?
