Generally an internal PCI wireless card is faster and better than a usb device, particularly on an old PC where the USB ports are probably 1.1 standard not the faster usb 2.0 standard.
However, to install a pci card you need to open the box and plug it in, which you may not be happy about.
Having said that, at this moment I'm using an external usb device on an old computer (usb1.1) with a slow wireless connection (802.11b) and it works fine!

USB or PCI wireless Card will give you the same results as the bottleneck will be your *wireless connection* not your hardware.
Do you want it cheaper or more portable. (i am thinking the PCI is cheaper but could be wrong), its just a matter of preference
Wireless *g*: 54mbs
USB transfer speed: 450mbs
PCI (not sure but i believe its the same as ur MOBO bus speed, but definetly greater than wireless connection

PCI WiFi cards have better antennas than USB WiFi adapters, which means better reception this will give you more consistent connections which are faster too.

take it back to where you got it from and tell the person at the desk to watch this then un plug it in front of them then take it home and when you cant forget about it for a few weeks youlss start to notice all the angles and colors on it then youll turn it weird like its part of your body and people wont be able to see it and then you will be able to do anything you wantit to do,
because if it can move from one place to another wihtout looking like it wont work , ,, if it can be paid for it was made with all the thuoghts you have in mind

Get the card if your intention is to use it for that desktop. Get the usb if you plan to use it on others--usb is more portable; that's the main benefit, but it costs more.
