I somehow, LOL, ended up with an icon shortcut to a picture I have in my picture folder. Don't know how it got there, but there it is. Anyway, if I right click on the icon and click delete, will that delete only the icon, or will the picture also be gone? Is that the right way to get the icon off my screen?

If the icon has a little arrow on the bottom left corner, then you can delete it. To make sure, "right" click on the icon and go to "properties". If it says "shortcut" under the "type" heading and it's only like 4kb in size then its OK to delete it. remember, if you delete it and go to your folder and the picture is gone, then just go to your recycle bin and restore the picture into the proper folder.

If it is a shortcut...the picture (icon) has an arrow on it is safe to delete. No it won't erase your actual picture.
