would you prefer to have an AL outfield of Ted Williams in left, Mickey Mantle in center and Babe Ruth in right.... or an NL outfield of Stan Musial in left, Willie Mays in center and Hank Aaron in right?

Which outfield would you choose, and why?

This is tough.

The National League - because of superior defensive skills and baserunning.

AL outfield:
my reason is OBP and Slugging.

Williams .482 .634
Mantle .421 .557
Ruth .474 .690

Musial .417 .559
Mays .388 .557
Aaron .374 .555

As you can see the AL outfiled score much higher in both catagories. plus if you have an outfield like this who care about fielding that much casue you probably have some amazing pitchers too :)

The AL outfield because I would want to field a team that can attract more fans to the stadiums. I can see more fans wanting to see Babe Ruth, Mantle, and Williams. The AL outfield can attract those fans easier than the NL outfield. Not saying the NL players would not fill the stands-I do not see them as popular as the AL players. For production purposes-both would be equal for me.

If we are talking about fielding the ball Ted Williams wasn't the greatest of fielders due to his obsession with hitting. Because he was such a perfectionist at hitting his fielding was often over looked.

Defensively:
Willie Mays is in center field period! ( 12 Gold Gloves )
Roberto Clemente is in right field ( 12 Gold Gloves )
Carl Yastrzemski is in left field ( 7 Gold Gloves )

Offensively:
Mickey Mantle is in center field
Ted Williams is in left field
Babe Ruth is in right field

American League. Babe Ruth was the best and you can't choose against him. Musial was great but I don't think he was in the same class as Mays and Aaron.

Ted Williams in Left, Willie Mays in Center, and the Bambino in Right. You just can't go wrong.

the better outfield would be the NL, it has nothing to do with fans. all the players listed loved the game and they were not the cry babies of today
