This question came to mind because of the couple found in Italy embracing each other in grave. I've always wondered what the rules are?

As far as I know there isn't any rules prohibiting it. The trick is to have both of you die at the nearly same time.

Many people are buried next to their spouse, not embracing but close. A possible alternative would be for both of you to be cremated and your ashes combined...

In today's society, there are most likely laws against such practices. Even though they stack "paupers" in common graves, Most cemeteries won't put a couple in one. You could share a mausoleum. Or, after cremation, an urn. Check with your local mortician. YBIC

I think so, if there's space to do it, some 12 people of my family are all buried in a common grave in our home town, someone bought a big space so we could do it.

I think if you died at the same time, but if you died at seperate times, they'd have to dig one of you up to put you together. I assuming you'd have to write something about what you want in your will, and also speak with the place you purchase your burial plot at. But, I don't like thinking about death!

Well, my granddad died in 79, grand ma in 99. they are in the same grave, not the same casket.

If they died together I think you can request they be placed in one casket.

You have to check with the city/cemetary that you plan on being buried in. I saw that picture too, that is sweet, I am sure that they died an aweful death though.

I know of people have their caskets stacked. I have not heard of 2 in one casket but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
