If you really think about it, it's really stupid to ask someone if something is "good" or "bad". After all, you're just asking for someone's opinion, and just because another person feels a certain way about something, it doesn't mean that you would share that person's opinion.

If it's what dress looks best on me? kind of question the person is insecure and indecisive. Those kind of questions I'd consider to be stupid. Or even more so what to do about things in your personal life that only you can figure out.
If it's "Do you think buying this amount of stocks at this time in the market is good or bad than maybe they are looking for an opinion.
It may not even stop at the answer of it's either "good" or "bad". The person may suggest something that you have never known.

I think because most people want perfections in their life and they do have their own stereotypical notions and ideas of what a utopia should be. They simply fear to make mistakes because they don't want to look imperfect in the other's eye. Generally people when they made mistakes they feel that it's already against their self-pride and dignity then as a result they become so embarrassed and feel that the world tumbling down on them. Because of this thought inside them, they ask if it's good or bad before....
Good or bad, right or wrong is as the same as sun and moon, black and white, morning and night, tall and short, dirty and clean, so on....

I pesonally think it's a good idea to ask if somethings good or bad and get other people's opinion. That's what yahoo answers is all about. Sure we all have different opinions about stuff but it's good to hear what other's have to say on a certain subject.

I think we all get stuck making decisions sometimes and it always helps to get others views on the subject. Isn't that why we're all on here? Sometimes it just helps to know you're not alone in what you are feeling. Hearing others opinions and views can help us work it out in our heads and hearts.

I THINK PEOPLE ARE ASKING CAUSE THEY ARE WORRIED , WHAT EVER THEIR ABOUT SAY OR DO COULD BE GOOD AND / OR COULD BE BAD
MAYBE THEIR DOING SOMETHING BAD ARE AFRAID OF GETTING CAUGHT TOO!
