i also always receive flowers but i do also get sad cuz i dont get to celebrate it with that 'one special' person that i havent found yet. Its kind of sad cuz you see all these couples and cute movies on tv and stuff but it's ok cuz it's only 1 day and i know that guys arent romantic anyway so most women (that do have bf or husbands) dont get as spoiled as in the stupid movies we see on tv! Hang out with your friends or your best friend and make her your valentine. Just cuz its valentine's day doesnt mean that you cant appreciate someone else thats awesome in your life besides your spouse or bf.

I too, won't be celebrating Valentine's Day.
I have mixed feelings about it, however. While I do enjoy the excuse to give my girlfriend flowers, take her to a nice restaurant or cook up some crazy surprise for her (I am a romantic at heart), I don't like the indisputable fact that Valentine's Day is extremely commercialized and a money-making event.
Therefore, I myself prefer to choose random times to do Valentine's Day-esque things for my girlfriend. She's more surprised that way, and I don't have to support "the man (incidentally, one time I actually DID give her something on Valentine's Day, made by myself, which was in itself a surprise because she thought I NEVER would do that).
I hope I helped make this a good conversation and gave you a good answer. Peace.

You may be interested to know where Valentine's Day comes from....
The roots of St. Valentine's Day lie in the ancient Roman festival of Lupercalia, which was celebrated on Feb. 15. For 800 years the Romans had dedicated this day to the god Lupercus. On Lupercalia, a young man would draw the name of a young woman in a lottery and would then keep the woman as a sexual companion for the year.
Pope Gelasius I was, understandably, less than thrilled with this custom. So he changed the lottery to have both young men and women draw the names of saints whom they would then emulate for the year (a change that no doubt disappointed a few young men). Instead of Lupercus, the patron of the feast became Valentine. For Roman men, the day continued to be an occasion to seek the affections of women, and it became a tradition to give out handwritten messages of admiration that included Valentine's name.

Valentine's Day is a commercial holiday specifically created to benefit card retailers, florists, chocolate makers and the like. Don't feel bad if you don't have someone - instead, try to celebrate life and be happy with yourself. Do something special for yourself. Don't buy into the Valentine's Day commercialism and or let it bring you down. Best wishes.

well, i think you should know that valentine's day is not about having a beau or a girlfriend. Valentine's day can be fun even if you don't have a date. Love is in the air, watch a movie that speaks about the power of love. Help someone cheer up by sending them secret valentines, someone who needs cheering up. Send them confetti or small greeting cards (even if they're handmade). Try not to fight, just this one day. Yes, i will be celebrating valentine's day- even though i havent' got a valentine.

Valentine's Day is a commercial holiday to boost the economy, celebrate it and help the economy.
Just go out with a friend or buy your mum a rose or your pop a wallet, just do something to enjoy yourself.

Valentine's Day is an overrated overpriced holiday. It tortures the couple-less and date-less. It's a shame that people are made to feel bad because they don't have a love in their life. Everywhere you look on valentines day, there's disgusting mixtures of red and pink. I, for one, am not going to celebrate the holiday. God, i hate pink.

To be fair I dont like all the red roses/mushy poems/meals for two stuff.
Its just so commercialised.
Im going away with my partner this weekend- for a day out/nice meal in the evening etc. But valentines day, we'll most likely be in the house, watching the soaps!
its overated. Ive got him a card- to be honest mainly because I know it means alot to him, and not because Im desparate to send him a mushy card covered in hearts.

No.. not celebrating it. had a few Valentines when I was a teenager but it soon got on my nerves. People should express their love for each other everyday and not wait for someone to tell them to do it. And yes, I do have a wonderful loving boyfriend!
