I drove one for the first time last week and really liked it. Are they reliable? Good on gas?

I had a 96 Tracker....that is the first year they called it a Chevy instead of a Geo. I loved it! I ordered an aftermarket hard top for it and it was an awesome vehicle. In the summer I could ride around without the top. It was great on gas! I had it for about 3 years and traded it in for a four door vehicle(family man here) but I loved it and never had any problems with it! It was light, but in the winter months here in Colorado...I loved the 4 wheel drive.

I was all gung ho for a Tracker a couple years back until I spoke with a mechanic at the dealership who didn't know I was buying one. They see Trackers all the time. I then checked with somebody else I know in the mechanic field and Trackers are in his garage quite a bit. The Trailblazer is more expensive but you get more storage. If you want good gas mileage the Saturn Vue is probably the best of all 3.

They are good on gas, but I would hate to have a run in with a SUV or Truck in one, and these days there are more and more SUV'S and Trucks on the road. (where Im from). I would rather have safety than save a few bucks in gas, I drive an Expedition and I know me and my children are pretty safe in it.

Trackers are pretty good, but not stable in windy conditions...good reliable vehicles, consider wider wheels and tires tho

My college roommate drove one, and it was awful. Dont get me wrong, when it snowed, it would go anywhere, but it was cramped, and used very cheap materials. He had it for something like 7 years, and had to replace the transmission once, and the engine once.

Umm...Well, as much as I've been here at Yahoo Answers I've not come across very many problems with them from owners.

So I'd have to say they're pretty good little truck thingies.

My father-in-law works for Chevy and he said I should not buy one. He does not think it is a good car.
