Ideally, the poop should be the consistency of peanut butter. It is not uncommon to have harder poop, but you should keep an eye on that. You don't want them constipated. The color coming out depends on the color going in. You can always tell when my 8 month old has had carrots!

Assorted colors from the food your baby eats, and either pasty or clumpy but that is really a function of how long it's been since the baby last pooped. My 13 month old has put out a few adult types. My wife is grossed out when I mention this. Good times.
