China for sure. For one, they have the man power (1 billion +) (yay for cheap labor), so they can build industries like nothing. They already have the big cities that they can show off to the world, and on top of that, their cities are newer, and look more futuristic. (the style has nothing to do with whether they are a super-power, but it sure looks the part). They already show signs of pollution problems on a scale of the united states, and that's a big sign of industialiszation. MOST IMPORTANTLY, they have continued to pump money into their military, and they aren't that far behind the rest of the leading world (if not even).
To show off thier power, they recently shot down a satelight in space, (from Earth), which isn't something easily done. CHINA IS THE FUTURE, and if you want to learn a foreign language... pick Chinese, because you will thrive in the business world.
China no longer requires the help of the United States in many areas, and are showing more signs of self-independance.

I hoped this helped, and always remember...
Konichiwa...whatever that means, and I hope it's chinese.

No one will really emerge "fresh and new". China has been a superpower for decades, especially since the fall of the USSR they have been the other superpower along with the US.

But they will always have a tone of isolationism that will obscure undertone their greatness. Other countries may have emerging economies but will never be super powers. If South American and African countries model themselves after the EU and form regional "super economies" the idea of superpowers will become passe.

That's hard to say, America has the infrastructure, resources and technology in place. China is an up and comer but they have a week infrastructure and a general inability to cultivate there own natural resources. N Korea definitely has the military resources but there people are starving but then again they would charge up the devils a--hole if Kim Jong Ill told them to. This is a hard one to answer......good question!

Japan. They are already starting to discuss rebuilding their military power as their confidence in the USA protecting them against China and North Korea is declining. Japan already has the technology and financial resources to return to a great military super power.
