The question - do you think it's okay for a straight guy to wear black lycra spandex shorts when working out at the gym?
Me, I'm 6'5", 240 lbs, and stay in real good shape. Not white trash- no mullets or anything. I shave my head.
A plain pair of black lycra shorts feel and function better to me.
I like complete freedom of movement in a workout (especially on cardio and lower body workouts) and don't like the feeling or look of wearing baggy shorts over the spandex.
I wear a normal length t-shirt or sweat shirt on top - so I don't think my parts are visibly flopping all about if that thought makes you cringe.
So, is it okay for a guy to workout in lycra spandex shorts or not?
If you like the idea - why?
If you hate it - why?
Do you initially assume a guy is gay because of it?
Thanks...
*My wife likes them on me alot, but I wanted some unbiased opinions.

Sure, why not? I wear spandex/compression shorts to the gym all the time. I initially wore them for my leg workout days, but now I wear them whenever. The compression shorts absolutely help for my leg workouts and wearing some baggy shorts over them just gets too hot. They're basic black and are thicker than the spandex of your average bike short. I feel motivated to hit the gym whenever I wear them, so if that's what helps me get my *** to the gym, so be it. I've never seen anyone give me a second look at what I am wearing. It's the gym! Don't let others dictate what you want to wear. If you're wearing spandex to flaunt your junk, that's one thing..but for what I use them for, I love them. Compression spandex keeps things well fitted so you're not giving away the details. I wear CW-X shorts,,they're awesome!

Dude your a fag,...and you wanna play straight. you wanna wear spandex but still you want to hold the straight persona give it up if you have to ask you already know the answer. Jus kidding about you being gay. Your prob a crossdresser its all good whatever floats your boat I say.
If a gay guy cruises u in the gym just say I know I look gay but Im not Im just into spandex and say the same for a straight guy who call your card by making fun, be butch about it
All joke aside do what you fell comfortable it sounds like you do care about being judged so your better off not wearing your lycra

My initial reaction was "Aargh! Spandex! No! NO!!" But after some thought and consideration, I have changed to YES! You are working out for you, not for other people to check you out and judge you. If spandex is what you are most comfortable in, then wear it. If anyone says anything to you then you should just remind them to concentrate on their workout, not your wardrobe. Spandex is acceptable in the gym and I wouldn't think anyone gay of it (unless it was accompanied by a half shirt or something). It's when Spandex reaches out into the rest of the world that I get worried.

I would have to say NO. My soon-to-be hubby wears them to bed or for just walking around the house. But not for the gym. I really don't want to see that while I'm working out. I could care less if you gay or not. A gay guy shouldn't wear them to the gym either. It's just not cool. This is just my opinion. Do what you want. Go the gym with them on and see how many stares you get back. If you see no one is paying you attention then wear it but if you notice ppl staring or whispering get rid of them fast. Good luck!!

I think men can wear what ever they want. People are so sterotipical. Think about this if men were to wear tight geens does that make them gay? No it meens they like there pants the way they do. Same goes for wemon if we are seen hanging out with 1 girl at dinner and people see them hug and say they love each other people think they are lovers. So in answer to your question if you like to wear spandex to the gym then go for it all the more power to you. Dont let other people dress you. And if your wife thinks you look good in them Im sure other ladies do to.
Good luck hope this helps
