For all the apple cider vinegar believers out there: wouldn't it be as beneficial just to take potassium supplements? I ask this only because in my research, I've found that the only real beneficial ingredients in apple cider vinegar is the potassium. It contains only trace amounts of other minerals, etc. I do think that this ACV fanaticism is but an anecdote. Thanks for the insight.

Many foods are benecicial because the nutrients they contain are in a particular combination that works well together. Most nutrients are useless when isolated because they require the presence of other nutrients in order to be metabolized and used by the body. Also, different foods contain different combinations, and have more or less of various nutrients which is why variety is important and why certain foods are good for certain things. I don't know if the hype about apple cider vinegar is true or not, but there could be something to it. I do know however that in order to have the best benefit it has to be organic and raw, as in not heated or pasteurized because that destroys the enzymes and some of the nutrients. Also, many supplements are difficult for the body to metabolize unless they come directly from a whole food. Many supplements are chemically dirived and virtually useless to the body. Trace amounts of minerals are generally all the body needs and their presence might be what's necessary to metabolize all the nutrients in the food. The body and digestion are very complex things.

apple cider vinegar can do a buch of things. I've used it for digestion. Sometimes i get heart burn after a meal so i take a tea spoon of vinegar and a cup of water and take that and it adds more acid to digest my food. apple cider vinegar also clears the veins from cholsteral plaque. I also use it for my allergies. I was reading a website that said when the body has an allerigic reaction it goes slightly alkaline and taking the vinegar will put the body slightly acidic and this will stop and allergy almost immediately. what ever the reason it really does clear up my allergies. Now i've heard acv is also good for skin and hair. I haven't tried it but its suppose to be good for dandruff and getting rid of warts.

Are we talking about people drinking real vinegar? I know what apple cider vinegar is, but do people really drink it for health benefits? Or is there a pill form of it I don't know about? Sorry, I can't answer your question, but I am amazed.

Hmm... are these people the same group of people that drink their own urine and claim it has health benefits, yet no one in that group can prove what those benefits are? I don't think there are any REAL benefits to drinking it. I understand that some studies have claimed that highly acidic foods can help keep the kidneys clean, maybe that is why they do it. Personally, if eating or drinking something cannot be proven to provide a benefit, then why bother? Sorry, that doesn't answer your question very well, he he
