It really depends on the type of plastic surgery. You need to be careful to learn what the surgeon's specialty is. Check out Dr. Carol Shaprio in Woodbridge, VA. I know it is a little trip down 95 but she is absolutely worth it. She's incredible - I've seen a lot of her work. Very kind (great bedside manner) and has reasonable prices too.

If you don't go to Dr. Shapiro, then make sure you find a Plastic Surgeon who is Board Certified by the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.

Also, go to your library and check out the most recent version of the Washingtonian Magazine's Top Doctors' List and/or the Washington Consumer Checkbook Outstanding Physician Specialists. These are both magazine type publications where doctors are surveyed to see which other doctors they would recommend to their friends and family.

Be selective. Don't just go one one person's recommendation (from Yahoo Answers or anywhere else). Do your homework - you're not getting your tonsils out, you're looking for someone who will do work that is beautiful and not leave big ugly scars, etc.

Dr. George Bitar.

He has done several procedures for my family members. He is pure perfectionist and prides himself on staying current with the latest procedures. He can be very flexible with payments too.

He is also listed in this months Washingtonian magazine.

A family member did some work for him and I have met him personally. He has done some amazing pro bono stuff as well. I can't praise him enough.
