jasmine - he said that 'in relation to other AA's' or to 'prior presidential candidates? if it was the latter, i agree. ......weren't sharpton and jackson for ebonics, among other drivel that most educated blacks now consider absolutely ridiculous?

I hope people understand that I am explaining why some people (not me) get offended.

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

The implication is that Africans Americans are not normally clean articulate bright and nice looking. Those kind of statements hurt people.

I do not buy into our times where every single little statement taken out of context should be made a HUGE overblown issue. But think about the last 7 years and how minor and maybe misguided statements get amped up and cause media hysteria.

I think Joe Biden could have phrased it better, but I am an intelligent woman and KNEW he didn't mean it like that. Some people did and do take it that way and its unfortunate that we do not cut each other some slack anymore these days.

I hope this clears things up.. Take information from the news and do the fact finding research for yourself and don't buy into the circus. :-)

he was a fresh thinking, good looking candidate, but the way he said it was not meant to offend but it implied that black candidates from the past were not. ie Jesse Jackson, AL Sharpton, ect. And he is actually right.

He said he was the first clean, intelligent, good looking black guy to run for president. Something to that effect. Just lookup the quote.
